Arizona Bans Ethnic Studies & Teachers with Accents in Schools

1)L.A.’s May Day immigration rally is the nation’s largest! Yey! Me along with over 60,000 people gathered this Saturday to show our support for an immigration reform and united against Arizona law SB1070.

It was an awesome experience being around thousands of people not afraid of fighting for their rights and wanting to be heard. We as people have the right to demonstrate our stands on laws that affect us like the one in Arizona.

2) Obama takes immigration reform off agenda because lawmakers may lack the "appetite" to take on immigration while many of them are up for re-election, the AP informed.

Obama are you serious?! A lot of us feel betrayed. Considering that a big population of the immigration community is Latino, politicians always use the tactic of saying they are for an immigration reform to gain the Latino vote. Now that elections are near and it’s a hot topic, it’s not in their interest? How convenient.

3) Arizona Gov., Jan Brewer, not only passed controversial & discriminatory law SB1070, she also banned ethnic studies and teachers with accents from Arizona schools.

What in the world is Gov. Jan Brewer thinking. Doesn’t she realize this is a violation of human rights? If we look back at history and think about the horrific events like the Holocaust & the genocide in Rwanda it all began with laws like these.

4) As many of you already know, there is huge oil spill in the gulf of Mexico that is threatening the life of our marine life which is a billion dollar industry endangering production, shipping and refining of oil and natural gas in Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana.

5) The L.A. Times reported Sunday that N.Y. police are searching for suspect in Times Square for car bomb. A man was seen walking away from the scene acting in a 'furtive manner,' the police chief says. Officials agree the incident is a form of terrorism.

6) Again in 2010 L.A. is named the country's worst for ozone by the American Lung Association's State of the Air 2010 report, released Wednesday. The ranking is worrisome for the city's residents because inhaling ozone is akin to "getting a sunburn on your airways," says Dr. Norman H. Edelman, the ALA's chief medical officer.

7) The AP reported this week that New York, California, Texas, Arizona and Florida — are perilously close to losing out on congressional seats because of lackluster participation in the U.S. census.

What is going on people? There are only 10 questions. PLEASE fill them out and send to be counted. This will also help determine how much money we received to better our state, and we are in desperate need of help.

8) This week Gen. Manuel Antonio Noriega, 76, was extradited to Paris from the United States early today and faces 10 years in jail for the crimes he committed in the European country. Reportedly, the former Panamanian president laundered $25 million in cocaine profits through various major French banks and purchased three lavish Paris apartments using drug money.

9) Laura Garza’s body was found after missing over a year ago. DNA tests confirmed that bones—originally discovered by ATV riders on April 11th in an out-of-the-way mining area of Mount Cobb, PA— were definitely those of the 25-year old Texan who was an aspiring dancer.
"This certainly moves our case forward," concurred New York State Police Lt. Pierce Gallagher. "It's certainly easier to prove a homicide when you have a body."

10) On Sunday, “Money” Mayweather defeated “Sugar” Shane Mosley after a 12-round fight. Floyd Mayweather was reluctant to confirm a “mega fight” against Manny Pacquiao, the fight everyone really wants to see.
“If Pacquiao is the blood test, we can make the fight. If not, we will not have a fight. If Pacquiao wants to fight, it is difficult to find. Do not go around challenging fighters,” he said.
