10) I hate to drive in the bad roads. A lot of improvements have been made on the streets and lights, but more still needs to be done.
9) I do love how you can basically buy anything while waiting at the border. People are selling everything from puppies to newspaper.
8) I absolutely dread waiting to cross the border back to the U.S. The wait is about an hour on a good day. On holiday weekends the wait could take up to more than two hours.
7) I always enjoy how inexpensive everything is. I went to the movies with my cousins, and we saw “Alicia en el Pais de las Maravillas,” Alice in Wonderland, in 3D for six bucks! The popcorn was like 3 bucks and they have kettle corn!
6) I love the drive. The scenery is breathtaking. Driving by the coast and breathing the fresh air makes me appreciate Mother Nature.
5) The tasty beer. Of course Mexican beer taste way better in Mexico, and they also sell other beers that are not sold in the U.S. like Corona Familiar, which is the best!
4) I could never get enough of the delicious food. The tacos with hand made tortillas are my favorite. I love the fruit with powder chile and lime. Mexican fruit is so much sweeter.
3) It’s always heartbreaking witnessing the poverty. When kids are hustling in the streets selling gum or juggling, it’s impossible to not notice it. But it amazes me how everyone is so good spirited and hard working.
2) I hate feeling paranoid about possibly getting assaulted or kidnapped. I’m sure everyone knows there’s been a lot of killings and kidnaps in Mexico. Thousands of people have been killed due to the drug war. Most of all the killings involved people who were associated with the drug lords but innocent people were also murdered. This is a very sad and scary situation that’s existed in Mexico for years. I pray it gets resolved soon.

1) The number one thing I love is spending time with family in Mexico. I don’t get to see them often so when I do I really cherish it. It’s worth even risking my life for family, even though I never feel like I’m risking anything. Regardless Mexico is my roots and I feel right at home when I’m there.
