Sonia Sotomayor Will Have Her Own Superhero Comicbook & Hugo Chavez Blames the U.S. for Hitting Haiti With an "Earthquake Weapon"

10) SAG Awards were this weekend. Mo’Nique won again for her breathtaking performance in “Precious.” Below is the list of all the winners.

As for the fashion Mariah Carey looked a lot classier at this award show in comparison to the Golden Globes last week.

My favorite dress was Kate Hudson’s. I love backless dresses they are very sexy and can be classy depending on the style.

The worst dressed was Justin Timberlake. His suit looks like he got it at the Goodwill.

Full List of 2010 SAG Awards Winners

Mo'Nique, for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role, for "Precious"

Christoph Waltz, for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role, for "Inglourious Basterds".

Michael C. Hall, for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, for "Dexter".

Alec Baldwin, for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series, for "30 Rock".

Tina Fey, for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series, for "30 Rock".

"Glee" for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a comedy.

9) This week Hugo Chavez is on a role he blamed the U.S. for hitting Haiti with an “Earthquake Weapon” and removed RCTV, an anti-Chavez channel, from the air early Sunday for opposing new government regulations forcing it to televise some of the socialist leader's speeches after it did not show the president's speech Saturday to a rally of supporters. Venezuelan pollster and analyst Luis Vicente Leon said the message is clear: "The government is willing to do everything to destroy its adversaries."

It is very sad that there is no freedom of speech in Venezuela, a basic right that no one should be denied. Chavez is the main reason why a lot of Venezuelan’s are leaving their country and migrating to neighboring countries. He is on a true power trip he needs to take a chill-pill.

8) California border inspectors found 708 pounds of marijuana hidden under fish container, the Associated Press reported. An officer at the Otay Mesa border crossing ordered the truck driver aside Thursday night to put the cargo under X-rays. Authorities said they found 29 wrapped packages of marijuana hidden beneath the fish and a layer of ice. The driver was a 34-year-old man from Ensenada, Mexico, whose name was not released. He was booked into a downtown San Diego jail for investigation of drug smuggling.

7) Cuba performs state-sponsored sex changes. The Cuban government has begun to cover the procedure by their universal health care system, Mariela Castro (President Raul Castro’s daughter), told The Washington Post on Tuesday’s fifth Cuban Conference on Sexual Education, Orientation and Therapy. She did not say how many procedures have been performed since the ban’s lift in 2008 or the costs of the operations, she said “less than half” of the 30 patients approved have had the sex change. To read more on this interesting story visit http://www.latina.com/lifestyle/health/cuba-performs-state-sponsored-sex-changes

6) Cindy McCain, the wife of 2008 Republican presidential nominee John McCain, and their daughter Meghan posed for photos endorsing pro-gay marriage in California. Cindy McCain contacted NOH8 and offered to pose for the photo endorsement, the Web site said. John McCain’s office said that Arizona senator respects the views of his family members even though John McCain backed an Arizona ballot measure passed by voters in 2008 that defined marriage as between one man and one woman only.
Good for Cindy. I’m glad she’s not afraid of expressing her own opinions, considering that her husband is a big politician. Politician wives need to inform the public that they have their own political views and that being married to a politician doesn’t necessarily mean agreeing with everything their husbands stand for.

5) This week the big talk was definitely the weather. It was unusual in California to have so much rain especially this time of the year. It was nice for a change but it did cause a lot of damage. Hundreds of evacuees were allowed Friday to return to their foothill homes as SoCal’s week of lightning, vicious downpours and tornadoes dissipated into occasional thunderstorms. About 200 of some 2,000 homes throughout Los Angeles County remained under evacuation orders. Seal Beach was even hit by a tornado! Thankfully this weekend we had a break but this week more storms are anticipated to hit SoCal again. Everybody be safe and try to stay dry.

Watch this video of car that was flipped by tornado.

4) Bluewater Productions will release a comic book in April 2010 based on Sotomayor's inspirational success to the Supreme Court, Latina.com reported. It will be part of the company's Female Force series, which will also feature Lady Gaga, Sarah Palin, Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton among other high-profile women. I'll definitely be checking it out.

Below is the Bluewater Productions synopsis of the upcoming comic book:

The Supremes have a new member! Meet the latest justice to don the black robes of America's highest court. Sonia Sotomayor rose from humble beginnings in a Bronx housing project to become only the third woman and the first Latina to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court. Relive her historic journey in a comic book biography that's ripped from today's headlines.

3) The players starting in next month's All-Star game in Dallas was released. The starters in the East are Orlando's Dwight Howard(notes) at center, Cleveland's LeBron James(notes) (this year's leading vote-getter with 2,549,693 votes) and Boston's Kevin Garnett(notes) at forward and Miami's Dwyane Wade(notes) and Iverson in the backcourt.
The starters in the West are Phoenix's Amar'e Stoudemire(notes) at center, Denver's Carmelo Anthony(notes) and San Antonio's Tim Duncan(notes) at forward and the Lakers' Kobe Bryant(notes) and Nash at guard. Many were shocked that Iverson was chosen. I can’t wait to see this game, all I have to say is that the west is the best.

2) "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon event raised $57 million and still counting.
The two-hour telethon aired Friday night on the major networks and dozens of other channels, including MTV, Bravo, and PBS, and was also streamed live online. Stars like George Clooney, Justin Timberlake, Brad Pitt, Beyonce, Shakira, Rihanna, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen and more used their presence to encourage donations for Haiti, following the Jan. 12 earthquake that killed an estimated 200,000 people. This is great, I really hope the money is put to good use, Haiti needs a lot of help.

Check out a video of some of the performances.

1) My top choice this week was Coachella 2010. This year it will be on April 16-18. The lineup was released Tuesday morning on KROQ. Headlining this year is Jay Z on Friday, Muse on Saturday, and Gorillaz on Friday. 2010 Coachella Lineup

I am so excited about this years Coachella lineup that I already booked my room! I have made this event a tradition to go to for the past three years and every year it gets better and better for me. The lineup was just released this morning on KROQ, headlining Friday is the jigga man Jay-Z who I can't wait to see, Saturday Muse and Sunday Gorillaz. Also joining the ecstatic festival are great bands and DJs such as Benny Benassi, Vampire Weekend, Calle 13, Tiesto, MGMT, Major Lazer, David Guetta, Zoe, Aterciopelados, just to name a few. To see the entire lineup go to http://www.coachella.com/

With over 100 bands playing it is definitely worth your bucks. One day passes are about $100 + tax and three day passes are $269 + tax. Tickets go on sale this Friday 1/22 at 10am.

Check out some videos of who I'm excited to see.

Hope to see you all there!

Fashion Week in Hong Kong and Kids Science Project Gets Mistaken for Bomb

10) In San Diego, Millennial Tech Magnet Middle School Friday afternoon, boy's science project prompts school evacuation after being mistaken for a bomb. Fire-Rescue spokesman Maurice Luque said a vice principal's concerns prompted the evacuation. Luque said an arson team took photos and x-rays of the empty plastic bottle with wires and determined it was harmless. Luque says the 11-year-old boy was trying to build a motion detector from instructions he found on the Internet and parts he bought online with help from his father. His parents did not realize that the object looked threatening. This is what happens when a country creates fear about possible terrorist attacks.

9) This week the list of highest earning Hollywood stars was also released. In first place Jay-Z & Beyonce earning $122 million, second place Harrison Ford & Callista Flockhart earning $69 million and in third place Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie earning $55 million.

8) Saturday Night Live had a skit this weekend making fun of the Conan O’Brian and Jay Leno controversy with NBC. Check it out, it’s pretty funny. A settlement in the protracted negotiations between NBC and Conan O’Brien to end the talk show host’s seven-month stint at “The Tonight Show” was said to be imminent on Sunday night, with all of the basic elements of the deal hammered out and both sides eager to be finished with it, KNX 1070 reported.

7) This week it's also Hong Kong’s fashion week. They have some of the craziest and coolest fashion I have ever seen. Of course if I wore something like that I would look like a clown, even though I do get mistaken for being Asian a lot! Lol Check out some of the pics from the link below.

6) Heidi Montag plastic surgery addiction was a super shocker this week. After doing ten surgeries in one day and spending $30,000 to look “better.” The procedures Dr. Ryan performed that day includes: pinning back Heidi's ears, buttocks augmentation, chin reduction, mini brow lift, liposuction in her neck, waist, and thighs, and fat injections in her cheeks and lips. "My ultimate dream is to be a pop star. I'm competing against the Britney Spearses of the world -- and when she was in her prime, it was her sex appeal that sold," she said. "Obviously, looks matter; it's a superficial industry." Wow, what is happening to the world? She didn’t have to go through so many procedures. In my opinion she was already a pretty girl with a distinct look now she looks like most girls walking down Hollywood Blvd. She should have focused on her dance moves and singing lessons because she does not know how to dance. At least Britney does.

5) My favorite Republican, Rush Limbaugh, claimed that President Barack Obama is trying to score political points off the earthquake in Haiti. Challenged by a caller during his show Thursday, Limbaugh said: “If I said it, I meant to say it, and I do believe that everything is political to this president,” and added, “everything this president sees is a political opportunity, including Haiti, and he will use it to burnish his credentials with minorities in this country and around the world, and to accuse Republicans of having no compassion.” Limbaugh you are such a prick. Either you haven’t got laid in a very long time or you are just jealous you will never be in a position of power like PRESIDENT Barack Obama.

4) My favorite dress at this years Golden Globe was Anna Paquin’s from True Blood who’s dress was designed by Stella McCartney who is all about cruelty-free fashion. I also loved Halle Berry, all I have to say is HOT MAMA!

The worst dress was definitely Tina Fey and Mariah Carey. Tina’s dress was just ugly, as for Mariah she just needs to wear dresses that fit her.

3) Of course I can’t forget to mention the Golden Globes. I’m aware many people are not as excited about it as me, but I am a movie lover. I am so happy Mo’nique won for best supporting actress in "Precious." She did an amazing job and definitely deserved it. It was no surprise that "Avatar" was going to win for Best motion picture. I think if it didn’t win riots would have started. Another favorite was the "Hangover" that movie is one of the funniest I've ever seen. Congrats to everyone!

2) Today we must remember civil-rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. not only because we have to thank him for the day off, but also for reminding us of the importance of equality in the world and looking pass skin color and cultural differences. Here’s the famous “I have a dream” speech.

1) Haiti earthquake disaster is definitely my top news of the week. With hundred of thousands dead and injured after being hit with a 7.0, this is definitely one of the worst catastrophes of the decade. Millions of dollars have been donated by Hollywood stars such as; Wyclef, Haiti native, Madonna, Sandra Bullock, Giselle Bündchen, Brad, Angelina, Jay Z, Beyonce and may more, as well as citizens from around the world. However, more help is still needed, Haitians are in desperate need of food, water, medicine that even riots have started. One of my main concerns is making sure that the money donated is properly being used.

I think one of the reasons why Haiti was affected so bad by this earthquake was because it is one of the poorest countries in the world lacking resources and they have very old buildings. What the U.S. and other powerful countries need to focus on is how they can help fight poverty around the world. A 7.0 earthquake hit the U.S. fifteen years ago in Oakland and less than 70 people died. Why? Because the U.S. has the money to create buildings designed specifically to prevent such disasters and there’s a lot of resources.

Pacquiao will fight Joshua Clottey Instead of Mayweather & Check Out the New 2010 Laws

10) Woman claims to have a sex video of Tiger Woods. Steven Hirsch, co-chairman of porn giant Vivid Entertainment, told TMZ a woman approached him with a tape in mid-December claiming she had a sex video of Tiger Woods shot two years ago. Hirsch says his people have seen a 30-second clip of the sex tape, but can't confirm if the man is actually the golf champion. Tiger Woods, you are burned for LIFE!

9) Tuesday ESPN and Discovery Communications announced plans to launch the industry's first 3D television networks. They will introduce a 3D network this summer, while Discovery is joining forces with Sony and Imax for a 3D network to launch in 2011. It will feature at least 85 live sporting events during its first year, beginning June 11 with the first 2010 FIFA World Cup match South Africa vs. Mexico. To watch viewers must have a 3D-ready TV set, and might need a new set-top box. And yes, you also need to wear 3D glasses. Sounds kind of cool, but I’m still OK with regular HD. Eventually there’s going to be a TV where the viewer could actually go inside the screen. Who knows how successful this 3D launch will be especially since you need to buy all sorts of extra stuff.

8) Last year, Apple blessed the world by the unveiling of the iPhone, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. This year there was a lot of speculation about a tablet for the Mac line. If true I can’t wait to get my hands on one. Check out the must see link below. The tablet looks super cool.

http://video.popularmechanics.com/services/player/bcpid1358321681?bctid=1364230543

7) With a new year comes a list of new laws. Check out this list 1070 KNX Radio posted on their site, http://www.knx1070.com/pages/6018233.php? There’s all types of laws, from California restaurants being banned using oil, margarine and shortening containing trans fats to illegal dogfights fines being increased. Good I hate animal abusers.

6) “Lost” fans are angry about President Obama’s decision about possibly delivering his first State of the Union on Feb. 2, which happens to be the final season premiere of the ABC drama that is slated to air that evening. Hard core fans have launched a protest on Twitter against the potential scheduling conflict. The State of the Union is typically delivered in late January, and networks anticipated this year's speech would fall on Jan. 26, the Washington Post reports. However, Twitter users are angry that Jan. 26 will conflict with “America Idol”. For Gods sake people, don’t you think the State of the Union speech is just a tiny bit more important? Obama you can’t please everyone, nothing will happen if they don’t watch their favorite show that day.

5) Yankees player Derek Jeter and actress Minka Kelly are to wed, The New York Post is reporting that the couple have settled on November 5 wedding date. I didn’t even know Jeter had a girlfriend. The press tends to always focus more on teammate Alex Rodriguez. This is a shocker for me I thought Jeter would never get married. Jeter was rumored to previously date Mariah Carey, Miss Universe Lara Dutta, Joy Enriquez, Jordana Brewster, Scarlett Johansson, Gabrielle Union, Jessica Alba, Vanessa Minillo and Jessica Biel. I am very happy he finally found the one. Congrats to both.

4) Jay Leno’s primetime show is being canceled, NBC confirmed Saturday. “The Jay Leno Show” will end with the Feb. 12 start of the prime-time Winter Olympics coverage, said NBC Universal Television Entertainment Chairman Jeff Gaspin. While Leno and “Tonight” host Conan O’Brien had yet to accept the network’s new time-slot proposals last night, NBC reportedly wants to move Leno’s show from 10 p.m. to 11:35 p.m., condensing it to a half-hour. This sucks for Leno and O’Brian, I must have been one of the few who actually enjoyed the new set up, but ratings call the shots. Sorry to hear the bad news & good luck to both.

3) Pacquiao vs. Mayweather appears to be dead. Instead of fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao will be matching up with Joshua Clottey on March 13 at Cowboy’s Stadium in Dallas. Mayweather still wants to fight on that same date at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, which is where the original fight was supposed to take place.
Mayweather blames the cancelling of the on Pacquiao and his camp. Mayweather demanded blood-testing stipulations that were above and beyond the minimum Nevada Athletic Commission’s standards and wanted regular blood testing right up until the day of the match. Pacquiao asked for a 30-day cutoff prior to the contest. Mayweather contends that he agreed to a 14-day compromise, but that has not yet been confirmed. This is very disappointing news, I really wanted to see Pacquiao beat Mayweather. Money-mayweather why don't you stop winning and just fight.

2) Democrat Senator Harry Reid Sunday apologized to President Obama on Saturday over remarks published in a new book calling Obama a "light-skinned" black man "with no Negro dialect unless he wanted to have one." Now The Republican Party chief called on Senator Harry Reid Sunday to step down as Senate majority leader over racial comments about Obama, while Democrats tried to put the issue behind them. What an idiot! What the hell is Negro “dialect”? Some people are so ignorant. Big Mistake Reid. What do you think, should he step down as senator?

1) My favorite of this week is “The Simpsons” 450th episode celebrating of the show's 20th anniversary , which aired on Sunday. Can you believe The Simpsons have been on the air for two decades?! Imagine the world with out the most popular American family; it would be chaos. “The Simpsons” 20th Anniversary Special! In 3D! On Ice!, was directed, written and hosted by Supersize Me film maker Morgan Spurlock, which aired straight after the anniversary episode. It was awesome. Spurlock was very lucky to host this special, he had the opportunity to do massive research on everything you can think about that deals with "The Simpsons". It’s a must see special. My favorite character is Bart but I love my Latino paisano the Bumbleebee Man. Who is your favorite Simpson character?

From Crack Head Getting Caught Cooking Meth In His Car to David Guetta’s Kick Ass Performance

10) Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves have welcomed their second child, a baby girl. For many this may not be to important but I don’t care because this is my blog! McConaughey announced on his website Sunday: "Happy New Year everybody!!! On Sunday, Jan. 3rd at 12:13am, Camila gave birth to a healthy 7lb. 7oz. baby girl named "Vida Alves McConaughey”. Cute name! Vida, which in Spanish & Portuguese means Life.

9) "Avatar" had another stellar weekend with $68.3 million domestically, shooting past $1 billion worldwide, only the fifth movie ever to hit that mark. If you haven’t watched Avatar, you suck! This movie is incredible. I’m not big on sci-fi movies but James Cameron does an amazing job with not only the animation but with the storyline as well. Congratulations James Cameron!

8) Crack head passed out after cooking meth in the back seat of car. Thirty-one-year-old Nathan E. Beasley A.K.A. Tennessee’s Meth Chef was found by a cop passed out in his car on New Year’s Day while a batch of methamphetamine was cooking in the back seat. This is a true druggie, couldn’t he just wait until he got home! Now he’s being held on a $15,000 bond and no 'mo' money for his meth. I just chose this one because I thought it was wacky.

7) Travis Pastrana’s breaks world record for jump in rally car in Long Beach on New Years’ Eve. I was on my way to go see Travis with my boyfriend and two friends when we realized it was better to stay local and get drunk instead of risking getting harassed by the Long Beach Police, who are very well-known for their power trips. But overall it seemed a good turn out; a lot of people went to see Travis and he broke the world record.

6) In 2009 less people were sentenced to Death Row since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976. Just 106 people were sentenced to death, compared with three times that many in the 1990s, according to a report by the non-profit Death Penalty Information Center. I guess this is good news but the only downfall is that innocent people are still dying fighting a war no one understands. The reason why there’s fewer people getting sentenced to deat row is because it cost A LOT of money. Money our country doesn’t have or doesn’t want to spend on this. They better not! We need more jobs.

5) While in the U.S. there’s less people being sentenced to death row, Uganda introduced the Anti-Homosexuality Bill of 2009, which threatens to hang homosexuals, after three American evangelical Christians visited Uganda in March to discuss teachings about “curing” homosexuals, the NY Times reported. These three Americans have been widely discredited in the United States. Now the Americans are saying they had no intention leading a bill to impose a death sentence for homosexual behavior. This is horrible, what in the world were these people saying at the conference! Why can’t we all just get along?

4) Evans defeats Silva in this weekends’ UFC fight. Thiago Silva was close to beating former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans with a pair of crushing right hands midway through the third round, but in the end Evans (14-1-1) won the first two rounds and Silva (14-2) took the third. Evans won a unanimous-decision victory, earning 29-28 scores from all three judges.

3) Carlos Beltran Leyva, family member of one of the biggest Mexican cartels, was arrested in his hometown of Sinaloa. A judge ordered him held for at least 40 days while officials investigate possible charges of organized crime, the Attorney General's Office said in a statement Sunday. His capture came just two weeks after his brother Arturo, known as "el jefe de jefes" (the boss of bosses) of the cartel, was killed in a shootout with marines at a luxury apartment in the city of Cuernavaca. We'll see how much this will help stop the drug war, because since Calderon came into office it seems like a lot more people have been dying. Check out this video posted by El Universal of when Arturo Leyva was killed.

2) Kobe does it again! On New Year’s Day against the Sacramento Kings Kobe shot a three-point basket at the buzzer to give the Lakers a 109-108 victory. It feels good to have the best NBA player!

1) My favorite is the #1 rated NYE party in Los Angeles, Together As One. This year they had a great lineup featuring David Guetta, John Digweed, Markus Schulz,Dubfire, Sander Kleinenberg, Dj Reza & many more. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to go =( I would’ve LOVED to see David Guetta. Check out the video of Guetta ending the show. His performance looks AWESOME!! For those who went let me know if it was worth your money.

Welcome to 2010

Welcome and thank you for reading my newly created blog. My close friends and family know I've always wanted to have my own blog so I said what the heck why not begin 2010 with finally doing something I want to do and not just talking about it. I guess that's my new years resolution, doing what I want to do and not just saying what I've always wanted to do. Life is too short!

With that said let me explain what my blog is about. Simple, just as my blog's title, Anabell's Top Ten or what I like to call it A.T.T. (@) I will give you a weekly update every Monday on my top favorite stories of the week on pop culture, politics, sports, basically anything that I found entertaining or interesting and share with you what was so cool about it or not so cool about it. Then you can agree or disagree and let me know your opinion about the stories I've chosen.

My goal is to provide you with one site where you can get some of the most popular stories of the week you might have missed out on and make your life easier by avoid having you visit multiple websites to find them.

Enjoy!
